[edit] Installation
Extract the downloaded archive to your SD card to wherever you wish. Copy the original Liero data files into the same directory. Be careful not to overwrite the included LIERO.DAT config file, while copying the data files.
Launch the game by using ./liero1.34 either through the command line or through some menu application.
[edit] Gameplay
Liero is a realtime clone of Worms.
[edit] Game modes
There are 4 game modes:
- Kill'em All
- Game of Tag
- Capture the Flag
- Simple CTF
- Kill'em All - it's a standard deathmatch. The goal in this mode is to kill the other worm.
- Game of Tag - in this mode one of the player becomes it. He has to kill another player to make him it instead. Every player has a counter. If he is it, the counter goes up. If it reaches the preset value, the game is over and he loses.
- The other game modes look unimplemented in OpenLiero.
[edit] Levels
In Liero you can choose from either random generated levels (set the level to [random] in level selection menu), or custom made levels. Random generated levels are simple maps filled with soil and rocks.
Custom levels, while still can be simple soil and rocks maps, are in majority much more detailed. There are paint-like editors (ex. Wormhole 2.0) that allow level designers to use different colors and draw maps pixel by pixel.
There are many webpages with downloadable additional maps.
[edit] Weapons
There are 40 different weapons total.
Each weapon in Liero can be either set as:
- menu
- bonus
- banned
If a weapon is set as menu, it can be chosen at the game start. A weapon set as a bonus, can be obtained only as a bonus package during the game. A banned weapon will not be avaliable in the game.
The weapon list can be changed in the Weapon options game menu.
[edit] Controls
| | Movement |
| | Jump |
| | Shoot |
| | Change Weapon |
| | Ninja Rope |
| | Dig |
| | Accept(menu) |
| | Menu/Go Back |
All the controls can be changed in the game menu
[edit] Problems
- If you modify the game controls, remember not to map one button to more than one action. If you do so, a CPU player may behave weird.
